The Institute of Computer Studies shall:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

Graduate of this program shall be conferred the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS)

The BS Computer Science program includes the study of computing concepts and theories, algorithmic foundations and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software and develop new and effective algorithms for solving oomputing problems. The program also includes the study of the standards and practices in Software Engineering. It prepares students to acquire skills and disciplines required for designing, writing and modifying software components, modules and applications that comprise software solution.


Program Outcomes

  1. Exhibit competence in mathematical concepts and procedures to apply different analytical models in tackling problems methodically for the betterment of the community.

  2. Exhibit proficiency in relating mathematics to other curricular areas through understanding the basic concepts across the domains of knowledge to apply creative and innovative solutions essential for growth and positive relationships.

  3. Manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of mathematics to practice professional expertise guided by ethical standards.

  4. Demonstrate competence in designing, constructing and utilizing different forms of assessment in mathematics to assess the basic work-related skills and knowledge in the professional and social environment.

  5. Demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving by solving and creating routine and non-routine problems with different levels of complexity to contribute personally and meaningfully to the country’s development while consistently respecting differences and opinions of others.

  6. Apply computer and information technology in using effectively appropriate approaches, methods, and techniques in teaching mathematics including technological tools to perform duties and responsibilities with genuine concern towards clients.

  7. Appreciate mathematics as an opportunity for creative work, moments of enlightenment, discovery and gaining insights of the world to personally interpret the human experience while pursuing continuous learning through professional development.





Retention Policy- Intervention Program

A student who shall get 75% passing rate of the Roadmap Examination shall;

  • A regular student or those who met the retention policy, can enrol with full units academic load;

  • A probationary student, 3 units load will be deducted instead of 6 units; and

  • A probationary student who fails to meet the required GWA at the end of two (2) consecutive semesters, instead of advising the student to shift to other program, the student will be considered as probationary and will be deducted 6 units either in major/minor courses.
