Mission

The Institute of Teacher Education embarks on producing teachers who are effective communicators, critical thinkers, innovators, socio and eco-culturally oriented, media and technology literate and self-directed leaders.


Goals

The prospective teachers should be able to:

1. Possess the personal and professional competencies necessary for the development of the learner’s attitude, values, knowledge and thinking skills, and desirable work habits;

2. Manifest an objective and scientific outlook and keep abreast in the development of science and technology;

3. Value people with high moral integrity and ethical standards;

4. Promote socio-ecological and cultural ideals as a Filipino and take active involvement in local, national and global issues;

5. Continue to search for people, community and country’s innovations;

6. Extend assistance to the community by conducting a research-based community extension program.

Bachelor of Secondary Education - Math

The BSED-MATHEMATICS is an undergraduate teacher education degree program for teachers of Mathematics Education in the secondary level.


Graduates of BSED-Mathematics program are teachers who:

  1. Exhibit competence in mathematical concepts and procedures to apply different analytical models in tackling problems methodically for the betterment of the community.

  2. Exhibit proficiency in relating mathematics to other curricular areas through understanding the basic concepts across the domains of knowledge to apply creative and innovative solutions essential for growth and positive relationships.

  3. Manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of mathematics to practice professional expertise guided by ethical standards.

  4. Demonstrate competence in designing, constructing and utilizing different forms of assessment in mathematics to assess the basic work-related skills and knowledge in the professional and social environment.

  5. Demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving by solving and creating routine and non-routine problems with different levels of complexity to contribute personally and meaningfully to the country’s development while consistently respecting differences and opinions of others.

  6. Apply computer and information technology in using effectively appropriate approaches, methods, and techniques in teaching mathematics including technological tools to perform duties and responsibilities with genuine concern towards clients.

  7. Appreciate mathematics as an opportunity for creative work, moments of enlightenment, discovery and gaining insights of the world to personally interpret the human experience while pursuing continuous learning through professional development.

Bachelor of Secondary Education - English

The BSED- ENGLISH program is an undergraduate teacher education program that equips learners with adequate and relevant competencies in the areas of linguistics, language education, and literature that are necessary in managing the learning and teaching of English as a second language in a multilingual context.


Graduates of BSED-English program are teachers who:

  1. Practice professional expertise demonstrating one’s broad knowledge of language and literature for effective learning, reflecting critically on shared concerns, creating innovative solutions guided by ethical standards, exercising fairness and honesty in all transactions of life.

  2. Use English effectively and proficiently as a glocal language in a multilingual context as it applies to the teaching of language and literature in writing, speaking and using new technologies, while consistently respecting differences and opinions of others.

  3. Acquire extensive reading background in language, literature, and allied fields, applying critical, analytical and creative thinking, seeing the contemporary world from both Philippine and global perspectives to contribute to environmental, socio- economic and cultural movements of the community.

  4. Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication applying appropriate communication and social skills while reflecting on moral norms and imperatives that affect individuals and the society.

  5. Show competence in employing innovative language and literature teaching approaches, methodologies, and strategies, in light of one’s understanding of basic concepts across the domains of knowledge, with genuine concern towards clients.

  6. Use technology in facilitating language learning and teaching with higher levels of comprehension applying creative and innovative solutions.

  7. Inspire students and colleagues to lead relevant and transformative changes to improve learning and teaching language and literature, fulfilling duties and responsibilities with genuine concern for the betterment of the community and humanity in light of one’s appreciation of the human condition coupled with the capacity to personally interpret the human experience.

  8. Display skills and abilities to be a reflective and research-oriented language and literature teacher contributing personally and meaningfully to the country’s development within the bounds of ethical and moral standards.

Bachelor of Secondary Education - Social Studies

The BSED-SOCIAL STUDIES is an undergraduate teacher education degree program for teachers of Social Studies Education in the secondary level.


Graduates of BSED-Social Studies program are teachers who:

  1. Utilize appropriate various sociocultural, historical materials, communication, and social skills with higher levels of comprehension in explaining current issues.

  2. Work effectively with fairness and honesty in an organized community towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency.

  3. Demonstrate critical, analytical and creative leadership skills that will help in teaching or training students who will empower their communities while consistently respecting differences and opinions of others.

  4. Integrate local and global perspectives in understanding concepts in teaching the principle of the common good for the betterment of the community.

  5. Practice professional expertise and principles of sustainable development in teaching and learning to contribute personally and meaningfully to the country’s development.

  6. Pursue continuous learning through scholarship in research and further learning to reflect on moral norms/ imperative as they affect individuals and society.

  7. Practice the qualities of a creative and innovative teacher who has mastery of the subject matter to appreciate human condition.

Bachelor of Secondary Education - Filipino

The BSED-FILIPINO is an undergraduate teacher education degree program for teachers of Filipino Education in secondary level.


Graduates of BSED-Filipino program are teachers who:

  1. Nagpapamalas ng mataas na antas ng kaalaman at nagagampanan ang mga tungkulin at responsibilidad sa pagtuturo ng wika at panitikang Filipino batay sa pangangailangan ng mga mag-aaral para sa kritikal, analitikal at malikhaing pag-iisip.

  2. Nagpapakita at nakagagamit ng etikal na tuntunin, malawak at malalim na pag-unawa at kaalaman sa pagkilos at paghuhusga habang nirerespeto ang kaibahan at opinyon ng ibang tao sa pamamagitan ng pagtanggap at pagkilala sa ugnayan ng wika, kultura, at lipunan bilang isang Filipino.

  3. Nakagagamit ng iba’t ibang kasanayang kritikal, analitikal at malikhaing kaalaman sa proseso ng pagpapatuloy ng pagtuturo-pagkatuto sa pamamagitan ng paglinang sa propesyon.

  4. Nagtataglay ng kaalaman at kakayahang mag-ambag ng personal at makabuluhan hinggil sa usapin ng kultural, linggwistikong dibersidad at paglinang ng bansa para sa paggamit ng malikhain, inobatibo at mahalagang solusyon sa pagpapaunlad at positibong relasyon.

  5. Nakapagdidisenyo ng malikhain, inobatibo, at integratibong mga alternatibong dulog sa pagpapatuloy ng pagtuturo at pagkatuto ukol sa mga pangunahing kasanayan at kaalaman na may kaugnayan sa trabaho.

  6. Nakagagawa at nagagamit ang teknolohiya para sa pagtulong na mapadali ang pananaliksik ukol sa ikauunlad at pagpapatuloy sa pagkatuto ng wikang Filipino bilang wikang panturo sa pamamagitan ng paglinang sa propesyon.

Bachelor of Elementary Education
Graduates of BEED program are teachers who:

  1. Demonstrate higher levels of comprehension and in-depth understanding of the diversity of learners in various learning areas by applying ethical principles in judgement and action while consistently respecting differences and opinions of others.

  2. Manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of the different subject areas and apply computing and information technology in practicing professional expertise.

  3. Apply creative and innovative solutions in utilizing appropriate assessment and evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes and to personally interpret the human experience.

  4. Manifest skills in proficient and effective communication, social skills in the professional and social environment, higher order thinking, and use of tools and technology to accelerate learning and teaching.

  5. Demonstrate positive attributes of a model teacher, both as an individual and as a professional through understanding of basic concepts across the domains of knowledge with fairness and honesty.

  6. Manifest a desire to continuously pursue learning through personal and professional development to contribute personally and meaningfully to the country’s development.
