Commission on Higher Education (CHED) informed state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local universities and colleges (LUCs) to no longer accept senior high school students for the school year 2024-2025.

CHED declared the end of the transition period in the K-12 implementation, leaving no relevance for SUCs and LUCs to offer senior high school. In a memorandum from the Office of the Chairperson on December 18, 2023, Prospero De Vera reiterated the decision of the commission through CMO Nos. 32 and 33, series of 2015 and 2016, that the engagement of SUCs and LUCs in basic education through senior high school shall only be during the K-12 transition period, which is from S.Y. 2016-2017 TO S.Y. 2020-2021; thus, the engagement of some LUCs and SUCs has already lapsed.

He also brought out that the Department of Education (DepEd) issued a notice stating that there will no longer be any government assistance to private school students and teachers who transferred to SUCs and LUCs for SHS aside from those upcoming Grade 12 students for S.Y. 2023-2024.

“LUCs and SUCs with laboratory schools can accept enrollees but will no longer receive vouchers,” De Vera announced in his memorandum.
