As part of its experiential learning and community engagement initiatives, the Institute of Criminal Justice Education (ICJE) of Tangub City Global College (TCGC) conducted the "Behind the Bars, Beyond the Books" Educational Jail Visit 2025 with the theme, "Enhancing Knowledge on Justice System, Correctional Management, and Rehabilitation Programs." The educational visit provided Bachelor of Science in Criminology students with firsthand exposure to the operations of correctional facilities, allowing them to deepen their understanding of correctional administration, inmate rehabilitation, and the vital role of humane and ethical correctional practices within the Philippine criminal justice system. The activity was made possible through the support of Hon. Mayor Ben Canama, College President Dr. Maricelle M. Nueva, ICJE Dean Dr. Love H. Falloran, as well as the cooperation of the BJMP Oroquieta City Jail and the Misamis Occidental Provincial Jail.
The educational visit reinforced the institution's commitment to producing competent, ethical, and socially responsible future criminal justice professionals by bridging classroom instruction with real-world experiences. Through meaningful collaboration with correctional institutions, students gained valuable insights into rehabilitation-centered corrections, human rights, and public service while strengthening their appreciation of the justice system's role in community safety and reintegration. This academic activity was aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by providing quality experiential learning opportunities, Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by promoting a deeper understanding of justice, rehabilitation, and accountable institutions, and Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthened collaboration between Tangub City Global College and correctional institutions in advancing criminal justice education.
