Tangub City, Philippines — February 5, 2026 — Tangub City Global College (TCGC), through its Medical and Dental Clinic, spearheaded a Measles Awareness Health Information Drive in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The initiative aimed to educate students and the wider community about measles, a highly contagious viral disease of significant public health concern.

Health professionals provided participants with vital information about measles, explaining that the disease can affect individuals of all ages, with children and those with weakened immune systems being particularly vulnerable. The information drive outlined the typical progression of the disease, noting that symptoms generally develop within two (2) weeks following exposure. Initial manifestations include fever, respiratory discomfort, and eye irritation, which may later be accompanied by characteristic white spots inside the mouth and a widespread skin rash.

Medical experts highlighted that measles can be transmitted even before visible symptoms appear, underscoring the importance of early recognition, vigilance, and responsible health practices. Participants were also made aware that untreated cases can lead to serious complications, including respiratory infections, dehydration, and neurological conditions. The clinic emphasized the need for prompt medical evaluation for anyone experiencing symptoms or known exposure.

To reinforce awareness, the college strategically placed informational materials across campus, promoting proper hygiene, symptom recognition, and preventive measures. The campaign strongly advocated vaccination as the most effective means of protection, urging community members to keep their vaccinations current.

Through initiatives like this, Tangub City Global College (TCGC) continues to demonstrate its commitment of fostering a safer and healthier environment for all.
